Social Illustration - Assignment #2: Cartoon Network Poster
Ok, here's the 2nd assignment:
Create a poster for Cartoon Network, with one or more cartoon character, in the style of Art Nouveau. Any size, any aspect ratio, any media.
No Disney characters ;) I suppose that anime is ok, given that it's been shown on CN, but I'd rather see some good old fashioned Hanna Barbera thing, or something newer and Western, like Power Puff Girls, Samurai Jack or Adventure Time.
Deadline is Friday, May 13th.
Obviously, I recommend looking at Alfonse Mucha, but Gustav Klimt, Emile Galle or Antoni Gaudi might be good to check out as well.
I hope this one gets a bit more interest now that school is finished, and I really am looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with!

Sisters of Stone Death - Inks
Here are the inks from a 2nd M:tG card, given that I had over an entire week left after the goblins, so I figured I might as well do two...

Goblin Commando - acrylic inks
Here's the new image for my first M:tG card "Goblin Commando"
I may make more changes to it, and given that I have a week and a half until the assignment is closed, I might very well do another one this weekend.

First Assignment! - Magic Card
Ok, I've talked to some people, and thought about it, and here's the first "assignment" for this group - Redo the art on an existing Magic: The Gathering card. Can be any style, any medium, size is a ratio of 1.76x1.38 (in other words, maybe 1760x1380 pixels)
http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Default.aspx has a list of every card ever published, you can use this for inspiration if you'd like...remember, no creating a new card, work with existing text.
Assignment is due sometime on Friday, April 29th, posted here on the blog.
Have fun!
EDIT: I changed the aspect ratio, I believe it is closer to the actual cards now.

Process question...
How do you guys want to work out the 'assignments'? Do you just want me to post up topics to work on, do you want to take turns? I'm going to have the first assignment due on the 29th, given that we're mostly done everything this week, and that will give us 9 assignments before school starts again.
I was thinking of doing assignments of about the specificity of our Iconography class, but I can be more specific and make it about particular topics...would you rather have "Create an illustration for a magazine article", or "Create an illustration for a magazine article on cyber-terrorism"?
I'll probably post the first topic later today or tomorrow.
